Join in faith and fellowship with leaders from across Iowa.
The Iowa Prayer Breakfast is a Maundy Thursday celebration that brings together people from all walks of life to mark the beginning of the Easter weekend. The event features Scripture readings, performances by local vocalists and musicians, an inspiring message from a keynote speaker, and prayers for the state.
Attendees enjoy a hearty breakfast and the company of friends and colleagues. Doors open at 6:45am and the event starts at 7:15am.

2026 Keynote:
Alistair Begg
Alistair Begg is the Bible teacher on Truth For Life, a daily and weekend program that brings the exposition of Scripture to a global audience through radio, podcast, and a wide range of digital and streaming platforms. Since its launch in 1995, Truth For Life has featured teaching drawn from Alistair’s decades of faithful preaching at Parkside Church, where he served as senior pastor from 1983 until 2025. Today, Alistair is actively engaged with Truth For Life and speaks frequently at conferences throughout the United States and around the world, where he encourages pastors, theology students, and believers and proclaims the Gospel to those who have yet to come to faith in Jesus Christ. Alistair is the author of several books, including Name Above All Names, Pray Big, and Brave by Faith. His books have been translated into many languages and are read by a global audience. Alistair began in pastoral ministry in 1975 after graduating from the London School of Theology. Before joining Parkside Church, he served for eight years in Scotland, ministering at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh and Hamilton Baptist Church. Alistair and his wife, Susan, have been married since 1975. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren.

The 2026 Iowa Prayer Breakfast will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 7:15 – 9:00am.

In order to accommodate the large crowd, the venue was changed in 2013 to the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, formerly known as Veterans Auditorium. The breakfast is held in the ballroom.

Tickets for the Iowa Prayer Breakfast are $40 for adults and $20 for college students and younger.

The breakfast is open to the public.
Friends, co-workers, book clubs, pastors and staff, the business community, students, teachers, the Governor, heads of state, legislators, U.S. Senators, and U.S. Congressman have supported this event.

Small business owners, corporations, churches, and private citizens fund the Iowa Prayer Breakfast, which operates as a 501(c)(3) corporation (approval received November 20, 2003) through tax-deductible donations.

The Prayer Breakfast Committee is composed of volunteers from the legislature and business arena who meet each year to organize, raise money, secure an excellent speaker, and promote the Iowa Prayer Breakfast.
