He has also served as featured speaker at Super Bowls, NCAA Final Four Chapel and the Pentagon with senior military officers. Crawford is the author of 9 books including Your Marriage Today… and Tomorrow, co-authored with his wife of 51 years, Karen. Additionally, He is the host of two national radio programs, the weekend program “Living a Legacy” and the daily program “Legacy Moments.”
Crawford serves on several boards including Cru, FamilyLife and Chick-fil-A. He has received five honorary Doctorates (Biola University, Cairn University, Moody Bible Institute, Trinity International University and Columbia International University). Crawford currently serves as President and Founder of Beyond Our Generation and is committed to encouraging and helping to shape the next generation of Christian leaders. A former church planter, Crawford served for 27 years on the staff of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ), and served for 15 years as Senior Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church, Roswell, Georgia. He and his wife, Karen, have also been featured speakers at FamilyLife marriage conferences.
Crawford is a champion for multi-cultural unity in the Church. Raised in New Jersey, Crawford’s earliest experiences of community were multi-cultural. The children he played with, his parents’ friends, the people he encountered everyday—they were of all types of ethnicities. He had a great awareness of his lineage, but he also saw that love could cross any barrier society might impose. In fact, this vision of unity played a major role in his coming to faith in Christ. Crawford recounts, “When I gave my heart to Jesus as a teenager, I was captured by the vision in Ephesians 2 of a wall being broken down and the visible unity of the body of Christ. I was 15 or 16 years old, and that whole thing captured me.”
Crawford attended and graduated from Plainfield High School in Plainfield, NJ. He attended and graduated from Cairn University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible. He and his wife Karen met in college and were married on May 22, 1971. Crawford and Karen have 4 adult children and 11 grandchildren.
